FAU-AL supported Red Trébol in the approval of the Gender Identity Law in Bolivia.
Thanks to the hard work and tireless struggle of trans organizations and activists in Bolivia, today this country has a “Gender Identity Law” or Law 807, approved by the Plurinational Assembly of Bolivia on May 21 of this year. This law establishes, through a personal-administrative procedure, the possibility for transgender and transsexual people to change their name, sex, and image. This law represents a firm step toward guaranteeing the rights of trans women who fight against discrimination based on gender identity, and is a step forward in the recognition of the rights of trans people in the region.
