These far-reaching processes, which require a long-term struggle, involve commitment and efforts that cannot be abandoned; for example, there must be many supporters attending the Senate sessions,” says Franco Fuica, Director of OTD.
Organizando Trans Diversidades (OTD) is an organization that works to defend the rights of transgender people in Chile. In 2011, they achieved the Anti-Discrimination Law, which also enshrined the concept of gender identity in Chilean national legislation for the first time, a process that received urgent support from the FAU-AL. Motivated in that same year by the sexual diversity movement in Bolivia and Argentina, OTD began to lobby the Chilean government to replicate the right to gender identity as law in their country.
