On January 20, 2016, the Bogotá Metropolitan Police arrived at Plaza de la Mariposa, in the San Victorino neighborhood, and violently and unjustifiably detained 15 female sex workers. In response to this incident, the NGO P.A.R.C.E.S. decided to intervene with advocacy strategies and legal action. With the support of FAU-AL, they succeeded in bringing the case before the country’s highest court. Hear the story here, in the words of Nora Picasso, director of the organization’s legal committee.
