In the Dominican Republic, betting on theater is no simple task. You have to be willing to do so in a context that prioritizes other forms of expression. But those who do so experience other forms of creation, expression, and individual and collective connection in the theater.
Born out of a deep need to tell stories in order to represent and identify with themselves, the Teatro Maleducadas collective was founded in 2012. It is made up of women who have trained as performing artists and who aim to bring theater to many more people, especially women, transgender people, and women with disabilities. To this end, they have given workshops and staged plays with these groups.
